Fr. Charlie Dittmeier Cambodia

One very good place to start in getting a feel for Catholic Life in Asia is Fr. Charlie's own website focused on Hong Kong and Cambodia. He has been developing this resource since the Fall of 1996 and he has been handy with cameras as well as articulate in his observations of Catholic Life in Asia. He recently completed a term of service as Asia Coordinator of MMAF (Maryknoll Missionary Association of the Faithful), a ministry which took him on regular pastoral visits to Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan and and other MMAF communities. He moved from Hong Kong to Cambodia in February 2000.

UCA News (Union of Catholic Asian News) is a Catholic news agency serving the Church in Asia. It is similar to CNS (Catholic News Service) in the United States, but very different in that it serves many countries, cultures and languages. At the UCANEWS website, there are report services for paying subscribers as well as good information available to the public. Supporting UCANEWS as a paying electronic subscriber is one very simple and practical way for parishes or small groups or individuals to explore global outreach. For only $52 per year, you can purchase the right to read ALL UCANEWS reports. If you find a report that would enrich a parish newsletter or discussion handout, the reprint fee of $5 per report is extremely reasonable.

(Doing so will NOT take you away from this site. These are official UCANews sample reports archived on this site for your convenience.)

An additional note about UCANews for folks familiar with the PAA2000 website services. Remember those excellent homily texts by Fr. Bill Grimm, MM? Fr. Bill is assistant executive director of UCA News!
