U.S. PRIEST LOOKS TO HOMETOWN CHURCH TO HELP AFRICAN MISSION

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CNS) -- Father Richard Archambault wants to make the retreat center he helps run feel like home to the Catholics he serves in the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga, Ghana. And during a visit to his native Rhode Island, the Missionary of Africa priest was hoping local Catholics would be able to help out with some of his needs in the West Africa nation. ``It's like we're a newly married couple just starting housekeeping,'' Father Richard Archambault told The Providence Visitor, newspaper of the Providence Diocese. ``The center needs items to make a house feel like a home.'' He put furnishings -- beds, chairs and desks -- as well as curtains, glassware and linens at the top of his list for the Spiritual Retreat Center, where he is assistant director.
